Shirley Choi is the founder of Shirley Choi & Co., a boutique law firm specialising in private investment funds. With over 15 years of experience in Hong Kong and leading offshore jurisdictions, she has personally advised on and structured more than 500 private funds established in Hong Kong, the Cayman Islands, and the British Virgin Islands, spanning private equity, venture capital, hedge, and real estate strategies.
Before establishing her own firm, Shirley trained and practiced at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Baker McKenzie, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, and Ogier—each of which shaped her international approach to fund formation and governance. Her exposure to both top-tier global and offshore law firms gives her a rare depth of insight into both onshore and offshore legal frameworks, enabling her to deliver institutional-grade counsel with boutique agility.
Shirley is recognised for her precision, commercial judgment, and ability to distill complex legal frameworks into practical, actionable guidance. She supports clients through every stage of the fund lifecycle—from formation to restructuring, investor negotiations to regulatory alignment.
